Chore Chart

We already know that success in life begins with positive habits and goals. We recently decided that Cecelia should start to receive an allowance. We also decided that in order to receive that allowance we needed to make a chore chart for her. We did this so that she can visualize what her responsibilities are and we can keep track of what she has or hasn't done and how much allowance she should recieve. We are just starting with $1/Day if all of her chores are done. And were going to start off by giving her the allowance daily so that she can comprehend the cause and effect factor a little easier...eventually we will start giving it to her weekly instead. I went to this awesome website, Goalforit!.com, where you can completely customize the chart. In addition to chores we also added behavior goals and healthy habits too. Some of the "chores" are really just things that she does every day already like making her bed, putting her clothes in the laundry, and feeding and watering the dog and plants. For the behavior goals I put down things like: listening, using table manners and saying please and thank you and homework. She doesn't usually have homework but I consider practicing reading, sight words and practicing math (like county coins) homework for now. For healthy habits I checked things like: brushing teeth, and washing hands. Since she is only 5 we have to start off with her chore chart being manageable and age appropriate. The majority of the things she is doing on the chart are things that she is already doing anyways without prompting. We really just want her to know that we aren't just giving her an allowance but that she is doing "chores" for them and that she truly is earning her allowance. I will eventually modify the chart but for now I think that she will enjoy receiving an allowance and I will enjoy (hopefully) not having to prompt her to do these simple basic tasks. Right now she helps me with everything around the house that needs to be done but eventually when she's big enough she can do these things as chores, on her own instead.
